So, “Climate World” expo, the main event for the Russian climatic market, started its work. From the very first day it has become evident: there are changes. Familiar companies, familiar premises, familiar faces – and absolutely different atmosphere.
The coming days will show, but nobody has so far expressed an opinion that the exhibition is just a traditional meeting, an image event, etc. There are no grandiose stands occupying a half of the pavilion, no carnivals and feathers, packs of souvenir products and beat of drums. But what there is – serious work and equipment. As Dmitri Leonidovich Kusine, Executive Director of APIC, noted, the contrasts have smoothed out, “the exhibition has become more even, there are no taffeta huge stands, there are no tiny beggary stands – we came to the decent European level and it is good”.
However, all things in the order. At 12:00, there started the ceremony of the exhibition solemn opening. The participants and guests were welcomed by the General Director of the exhibition company “Euroexpo” K. V. Anisimov, Executive Director of APIC, D. L. Kusine, owner of the trademark of General Climate - General sponsor of the exhibition, L. F. Kiyakov, and Vice-President of Gree Electric Appliances Inc. company, Mr. Sam Chen. Everybody noted, that the exhibition is the fifth in order, an anniversary one, so, it was even more pleasure to meet old friends and to plan the future together (slogan “Meet you at “Climate World – 2010” is met here and there).
The solemn awarding of the constant participants of the exhibition also took place. Silver diplomas, VIP-cards and badges were awarded to 26 companies who have participated in the exhibition 3-4 years, and golden ones – to 23 companies known for five years, from the very first exhibition “Climate World – 2005”, and sponsors of the today’s event, General Climate and Gree Electric Appliances Inc. companies.
The start of the exhibition was rather active. Even before the official opening the work was in full swing. The most amazing was the full conference-hall where reports were made within the framework of the scientific program of the exhibition. The first day was devoted to various aspects of training and employment in HVAC&R industry. The discussion started before the official beginning of the scientific section work, when the participants have only gathered together. “I can read a lecture or tell that we all are beautiful and how well we are doing. But I think that it will be more effective if you ask questions that really interest you”, said Felix Tokarev thus starting a live discussion of tasks and problems and the ways of solving those. By the end of the first master-class there almost were no free seats.
An impression completely different from that of the previous years is made by the stands of the participants. Of course, it couldn’t go without girls, including those with the amount of clothing heading to zero, in red tights, white stockings, and even girls wearing only paint for body-art. Natural tunes were very popular in decorations of the stands. Some participants have flowers on their stands (for some reason, all flowers are yellow), the territory of “OlexHolding” is fenced by delighted-green artificial bamboo, around constructions of PM Vent there “bloom” golden daisies and “grow” ferns. In general, the accent on the environment-friendliness and energy saving is obviously one of the popular tendencies.
There is by far more samples of equipment, accessories; the “hardware” is present at all stands. Any visitor can not just read a catalogue or take a booklet, but can also look at the equipment, there are numerous training models, working but adapted for demonstration purposes. Some stands are decorated using consumables for HVAC systems (for example, pipes insulation under the glass of the stand (Rusclimat) or air ducts as a decorating element). There are notably more manufacturing companies each of which is seriously involved in presenting their products, demonstrates its equipment and is obviously aimed at work.
The exhibition was visited by 2450 persons.
The second day of the exhibition feature traditionally dense flow of visitors. It’s noisier in the halls, magazines, booklets, and catalogues disappear faster than they are placed on the stands, the number of girls in body-art and skirts has doubled, and from above there are constantly heard announcements on another seminar or presentation at some stand. From the very morning, the lines for production of round air ducts from galvanized sheet are operated periodically – and there are several lines installed in the pavilion.
“The hurricane of the crisis flew though the exhibition and demolished all second floors” – in this way Igor Osnitskiy, Director of professional portal Aircon.ru, the main informational partner of the exhibition, characterized the outlook of the stands. And this is really so. But this tendency is considered by many as a positive trend – the environment has become more operational, and the expenses for stands appearance have become more reasonable. “We planned decrease of the development budget back at the end of the past exhibition and we think it was a good decision” – said in his interview Leonid Kiryakov, General Director of “Nimal” and “Inrost” companies. “With the halved budget for the development we have good stands with the same output as past year”.
Everybody noticed unusually increased number of Chinese manufacturers at the exhibition. Indeed, they were represented by several enclaves of usually small but good-looking stands. But the estimates of this phenomenon differ. On one side, it is good, that the exhibition becomes more and more international (and, like at other international exhibition, the situation with Chinese manufacturers is pretty the same). On the other side – it’s a pity that many Russian companies did not choose to participate even in on this scale. “The cost of 6 sq. meters of a standard are not large, they are affordable for almost everyone. But they are scared.” – this opinion sounded from many directors of climatic companies. Hopefully, the situation will change next year.
The second fact noted by everybody and confirmed by numbers: the number of visitors is no way less than in the past year. The exhibition is successful, the exhibition works, there is interest to equipment – so, let’s hope that commercial results will not make us wait long.
Today's scientific program of the exhibition was wholly devoted to ABOK’s developments. One of the reports of the greatest interest was about self-regulating organizations (SRO) created in co-operation with SP “ABOK” and NU “APIC” – was the beginning of the scientific sections’ work. Then, the gathered specialists were informed on the new standards and recommendations of ABOK, then they discussed the programs for calculating heat consumption of residential buildings, the issues of efficiency and automation of constructions and many other matters. The conference was presided by Yu. A. Tabunschikov, a professor, the President of SP “ABOK” The exhibition was also attended by the heads of all large companies and equipment manufacturers, even of those who were not represented by separate stands. However, tomorrow many of them will come again and, at this time, for a long time – the scientific program of the third day is devoted to manufacturers and discussion of the market of conditioners as a whole. Most presentations of the reporters can be obtained at the site of the exhibition.
The exhibition was visited by 4750 persons.
The high temps and intensity determined by yesterday have transformed today. The number of visitors is still at the level of the past year, there are a lot of people, there are presentations being performed, and the scientific program is very intense. But the impression is that the contacts are more thoughtful, there are more pre-planned negotiations and less of those you just arrived and wanders around.
Each 3-4 minutes at the stand of APIC a person subscribed to “Climate World” magazine (17 persons hourly each day); at the lines for production of stiff air ducts machines cut and bent metal; strips tied to working fans were fluttering; IR-heaters heated and glowed; conditioning system units panels were opening and closing; various advertising girls, Tin Woodman known from the past exhibitions of Sigma-Vent and “snowmen” of Nobo were walking around... In general, presentations of equipment and companies was running in groove.
The third day of the scientific symposium was completely devoted to the presentations of market novelties, outlooks and analytics. The conference was opened by the report of the General Director of TopClimat.ru portal, Sergey Ivanov, who told about the main directions of climatic equipment development in the coming season.
From the very beginning the style of the section work was determined by the Director of TCC of APIC Felix Tokarev and by the Director of “Litvinchuk Marketing” agency, Georgiy Litvinchuk as a discussion, as a live dialogue. First they told about the situation that settled at the market in 2008, when it has become clear that there was some kind of crisis (warehouse balances exceeded 25%) and provided their forecasts for the market fall in different sectors in 2009. Their data differ – according to some forecasts, for example, VRF market will fall by 50% while according to other forecasts this market will be harmed least of all and its fall will not exceed 25%. What happens in reality – only time will show.
But all opinions have one thing in common: there will be the fall, and the most harmed will be small companies and regional leading companies accustomed to working with large objects only. There will be no large objects. “The structure of the demand has changed drastically” say Georgiy Litvinchuk – “Expensive series are in demand in the sector of household split-systems. Those, who didn’t have enough money to buy a cheap split-system, cannot purchase a conditioner at all now”. At that, the summer of 2009 is not expected to be too hot, which otherwise could partly help the situation.
Experts consider the most stable mid-size companies which specialists’ qualification is sufficient for designing VRF-systems, competent calculations and consideration of real needs of their customers.
The day went on in the form of discussion, with answers to the questions of the seminar participants. Representatives of the largest manufacturers of conditioners told about their novelties. There were made reports on the equipment; the first to speak were – GREE (“Euroclimate” company), then representatives of General Climate, Daikin, LG Electronics, Mitsubishi Electric, Midea, Samsung, Hitachi, Johnson Controls (York), Airwell, Sanyo, Euroheat and Haier spoke. They told about both new series of equipment and about changes in the production program; almost all manufacturers presented new models to the market; some other improved popular series. In 2009, Gree is actively promoted not only as a supplier of household split-systems, this company’s range of products has been widened – now it supplies the whole range of equipment up to chillers.
And everybody is waiting for the full-scale start of the season. What there will be in the future, which strategy turns out a winning one, whose aggressive actions become a success – only time will show. But so far, the exhibition, this miniature market, continues reflecting attitudes, expectations and state of affairs.
The exhibition was visited by 3670 persons.
